I'm sure you're hearing the new "buzz word" this year concerning the Pennsylvania Standards---Common Core----
What is The Common Core ? It is a set of high-quality academic standards in mathematics and English language arts/literacy (ELA). These learning goals outline what a student should know and be able to do at the end of each grade. You're probably noticing it is more rigorous than in past years. While I will work my hardest to assure your student is successful with these new standards, I can't do it alone. Please encourage your student to "study" math like they would any other subject. Also, encourage them to practice the standards at studyisland.com. There you will find lots of ways to practice the math concepts. Also encourage them to memorize their math facts. They must be successful with their facts in order to master the many other math concepts they are expected to learn this year.
